Overview

Biotechnology is one of the most revolutionary and beneficial scientific advances of the last quarter century. It is a interdisciplinary science including not only biology but also subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry and many more. Is is a conglomeration of various combined technologies applied to living cells for production of a particular product or enhancing its quality according to our preferences. Biotech is undoubtedly the future. Genetics engineering, genomics, bio-computing, biomedical engineering, biosensors, bioinformatics, etc. will be the hot topics for the next decade or so. Its application varies from agriculture to industry - food, pharmaceutical, chemical, bio-products, textiles, medicine, nutrition, environmental conservation, animal sciences etc.

Objective

The program has been designed to bridge the gap between industry requirements and the growing demand for skilled manpower in life science sector. Hands on training in practical techniques, which are being, used commonly like culture methods, biochemical techniques etc. are provided. Students also examine a range of practical applications.

Towards maintaining the pace with the new departments & achieving a cutting edge in biotech, it is necessary to inculcate certain skills & expertise through exposing young scholars to modern tools & sophisticated techniques of biotech. Therefore, career prospects seem bright for professionals trained in the life sciences. Future Projections show that there will be thousands of unfulfilled science and engineering jobs. Eligibility : 10+2/ Intermediate qualified with biology/maths with 45% marks.

Selection Procedure :

The admission to the B.Sc.(H) Biotechnology programme will be on the basis of the merit determined by the aggregate marks at 10+2 level.
